Clinical Approach

I utilize a wide variety of evidence based therapies in my work with clients. The most important piece of therapy is the therapeutic alliance itself, and for that reason, I often use different techniques with clients based on YOUR needs. Those include but are not limited to CBT, DBT, ACT, strengths based therapies, narrative therapy.

CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based on the idea that your thoughts and behaviors affect the way you feel physically and emotionally. This empirically validated therapy is widely accepted and helpful for depression and anxiety and other life transitions.

DBT
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy has four core components: mindfulness (for staying in present moment), interpersonal effectiveness (skills for maintaining healthy communications and self respect in healthy relationships), emotion regulation (skills to increase positive emotions and tolerating difficult emotions, and distress tolerance (skills for life's most difficult situations). These tangible life skills are helpful for clients to learn what can change in life, and what needs to be accepted.
